Questions about a stone, a parcel or a trade account — ask us anything, including the awkward questions. We would rather spend a week answering them than take a payment you regret.
Call us
888-296-4870Monday to Friday, 9am–6pm Central. Ask for the origin, weight and oil grade of anything you are looking at — we will read it to you off the card.
Getting a useful answer
What to tell us, so the first reply is actually helpful
You do not need to know any of the vocabulary to get in touch — that is our job. But if you can tell us these four things, the first reply will contain real options instead of more questions.
- What it is for. A ring to be worn daily, a pendant, a collector’s cabinet, a stone to cut, stock for a bench. This changes the answer more than anything else — daily wear rules out stones a collector would happily buy.
- Roughly what you want to spend. A range is fine. This is useful information, not a weakness, and withholding it mostly wastes your own time: it means we guess, and we will probably guess wrong in one direction or the other.
- Size, if it matters. A carat weight, a millimetre measurement, or a setting it has to drop into. If you do not know, say so and we will explain the trade-offs.
- Anything non-negotiable. Untreated only, a laboratory report required, a specific mine, a deadline. Tell us up front if a requirement is firm — we would rather say “we do not have that” on day one than waste a fortnight of yours.
What you will get back
How we answer
- What actually exists for your brief, priced, with origin mine, weight, colour grade and clarity enhancement stated for each.
- Photographs and video in both daylight-balanced and incandescent light. Emeralds shift noticeably between the two, and a single flattering frame is how stones get oversold. Ask for both — or do not, because we will send both anyway.
- What is wrong with each stone. Included where it shows, weak on one side, colour that drops under warm light. If we can see it, you get told it.
- A straight answer when we do not have it. Including pointing you elsewhere. A stone we do not have is not a problem; selling you the wrong one is.
Ask us the awkward questions. How much oil is in it, why it is cheaper than the last one, what a laboratory would say if you sent it, why we will not under-declare the shipment. Those are the questions that separate dealers, and we would rather answer them for a week than take a payment you regret.
Trade
Trade and wholesale enquiries
Buying to resell, filling a bench, or after parcels rather than single stones? Tell us the size band, quality range and total carats and we will say what exists. Trade accounts are verified before goods move — business identity, and beneficial ownership where relevant — and we are happy to explain exactly why: our compliance posture is published rather than described on request.
Small first orders are genuinely welcome. We would rather you tested us on a modest parcel and came back than committed large on a first transaction with someone you have not dealt with.
Not ready to talk to anyone yet? Read the free Emerald Buyer’s Handbook first. It is ungated, no email required, and it will make this conversation shorter when you do have it.
Enquiry form
Send us an enquiry
Everything below except your name, email and the enquiry itself is optional — but the more of it you fill in, the more useful the first reply will be. We answer every enquiry, including the ones that turn out not to be a sale.
